What is an ultrasound?
Ultrasound sends out sound waves that bounce off the tissues and are turned into real-time images on a screen. It involves no radiation.
What is a Doppler ultrasound?
Doppler ultrasound is a technique that studies blood flow in the vessels. It can detect narrowed vessels (stenosis), blood clots (thrombosis) or circulation abnormalities.
Preparation: full bladder or fasting, depending on the exam
Preparation depends on the exam: a full bladder for a pelvic ultrasound, and 4 hours of fasting only if the exam targets the gallbladder. You will be given precise instructions when you book your appointment.
